Fourth week of advance english

We learned about transition signals and coherent paragraphs. Transition signals is like making words simpler for people to understand. This has made writing paragraphs easier for me. Coherent paragraphs is like they give us helping words and we fill it in. It is like secondary school close passage. It is quite easy

Third week on advance english writing

We watch a movie called city of gods. The story is very interesting. It shows the life of many people in the world now. The story is about a bunch of teenage gangsters. They do bad things like robbing people, stealing and stuff, but actually, they have a good heart in all of them. This taught me to look at people in another perspective. As the saying goes, never judge a book by it's cover, and this is so true. After the movie, we were told to write a narrative paragraph. There are the topic sentence, experiences and concluding sentence and we are required to write them into a paragraph. For me, as my english language is not very good as I mostly speak in Chinese or in Dialect, it was very difficult for me at first, but slowly, under the coaching of our host mentor Mr.Guna, I am very sure that my english has improved and I am very thankful to him.

First and second weeks lessons on advance english writing

I felt that i've learned quite abit of useful stuffs after having about 6 lesson of advance english writing. Now i know the differences between a good topic sentence, incomplete sentence, too general sentence and too specific sentence. I think this is quite useful as i can write a good topic sentence for my essay next time. Topic sentence is very important because i think it is the 'factor' to attract people to look at your essay. Secondly, i've learned how to give good supporting sentences for my topic. By writing good supporting sentences, it will easily allow readers to understand and belive what you are trying to say. Lastly, Mr Guna also tought me how to write a paragraph as in how to sentence it and the tactic of making it into a good paragraph. For me, i used the skills not only in writing but also talking to guest. As i'm a volenter for the 78th INTERPOL GENERAl ASSEMBLY in SINGAPORE, when i talk to my guest, i would first give a good introduction about the little india area then gave some good supporting sentences to it which i think my guest understand the whole place within 5 mins and were happy with my service. So instead of jumping here and there, i organise what i wanted to say and it turns out really quite well.

thats it... see you next week
